The Oklahoma Family Positive Workplace Council recently awarded PCI Energy Solutions with the 2022 Oklahoma Family Positive Workplace Certificate of Excellence, signifying PCI has set an enlightened example in the business community with its family-positive practices and policies.
This certification, sponsored by the Potts Family Foundation, recognizes employers whose policies make it possible for employees to more easily balance family and work, and to fulfill both their family and work obligations.
“PCI encourages employees to have a healthy work-family balance by offering flexibility, remote work, paid leave options, employee benefits, a wellness program, and other supportive programs and policies,” said Abbie Jordan, senior HR business partner.
“When positive experiences at work extend to the home, employees are more likely to feel even more positively about their jobs. It’s important for employers to support work-family balance and decrease work conflict, as this will lead to happier families — and, in turn, happier employees.”
Family positive workplace practices benefit employers, families, and society. Research shows that employers gain in employee recruitment, retention, loyalty, and productivity, all of which contribute to the bottom line. Families gain in the ability to balance work and family obligations, reduced stress, and better quality of family life and life in general. The society gains because family-positive policies lead to more stable families with time to contribute to their communities, and better outcomes for children.
PCI’s focus on productivity allows employees to plan and complete work around family life, said Julie Rogers, PCI’s director of product management for energy markets.
“Leadership recognizes and encourages balancing energy among all the demands of work and family,” Rogers said. “I really like how PCI focuses on productivity versus man hours (large scale) so I can plan my work around my family engagements. That flexibility is huge. When I heard Javier Martin, our president and COO, talk about managing energy versus time, it really resonated well with me. I’ve been trying to adopt that practice.”
Potts Family Foundation, with its interest in advancing Family Positive Workplace Practices, is working with the Oklahoma Child Care Resources & Referral Association and Sunbeam Family Services to offer a special program/presentation along with ideas on how to enrich support for employees with young children.
