PCI Energy Solutions (PCI), the leading provider of secure and reliable energy software, today announced that Portland General Electric (PGE) has gone live on the California Independent System Operator’s (CAISO) Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) using PCI’s market participation platform. PGE began operating in EDAM on October 1, 2026, as part of EDAM Wave 2.
PGE serves nearly 960,000 customers across Oregon and has participated in the Western Energy Imbalance Market since 2017. Joining EDAM extends that participation into the day-ahead timeframe, giving PGE access to a wider set of regional resources while retaining its own balancing authority responsibilities. PCI supported PGE through market readiness, testing, and go-live, building on the work it completed for EDAM Wave 1, which went live on May 1.
“PGE’s smooth go-live reflects the close customer collaboration and disciplined execution that drive PCI’s continued success with EDAM participants,” said Shailesh Mishra, Chief Commercial Officer at PCI. “PGE has long been a leader in the Western energy market, and we’re proud to support this important milestone. Building on successful implementations for both EDAM Wave 1 and Wave 2 customers, our team is well positioned to support the next wave of participants.”
PCI’s EDAM solution runs on the same enterprise platform that supported EDAM Wave 1 on May 1, when the PacifiCorp balancing authority area went live alongside other participants, including Utah Municipal Power Agency and Basin Electric Power Cooperative. Its bid-to-bill workflows are built around CAISO’s day-ahead market rules, and the solution can be delivered on its own or as part of PCI’s wider Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platform.
