June 2, 2020 – PCI is pleased to announce that Avista Corporation (Avista) will deploy the PCI EIM Enterprise Platform to facilitate its participation in the Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM). Avista previously announced its intentions to join the WEIM by April 2022. Avista is an energy company involved in the production, transmission and distribution of energy, as well as other energy-related businesses. Its service territory covers 30,000 square miles in eastern Washington, northern Idaho and parts of southern and eastern Oregon, with a population of 1.7 million.
Avista plans to consolidate its legacy IT infrastructure onto PCI’s WEIM platform that will be used by Balancing Authority and Merchant Group mission critical functions, which will each receive turnkey, 7×24 support from PCI’s renowned Client Services Group.
“Avista selected PCI after a thorough evaluation of available market solutions via a competitive request for proposal. Ultimately, Avista’s decision was based on PCI’s extensive experience working with multiple WEIM participants, as well as their broadly capable hosted technology platform,” said Scott Kinney, Avista Director of Power Supply.
“PCI values Avista’s trust in our industry leading platform. We look forward to working with their team as we deploy PCI’s EIM solution and work toward a seamless go-live,” said Khai Le, Sr. Vice President at PCI.
